MIA becomes first airport in the world to launch ReBokeh app for low-vision travelers

Miami International Airport partners with ReBokeh to lead the way in accessible travel innovation

In a historic move for accessibility and inclusion, Miami International Airport (MIA) has partnered with Baltimore-based ReBokeh Vision Technologies to become the first airport in the world offering free and unlimited access to the ReBokeh mobile app, a groundbreaking assistive technology designed specifically for individuals with low vision. The app is now available to Apple users and is a milestone innovation under Miami International Airport's award-winning MyMIAccess program.

The new tool empowers low-vision travelers to navigate the bustling airport environment independently, confidently, and efficiently—a win for both travel innovation and human dignity.

Designed by and for the low-vision community

Developed by ReBokeh, a company founded by low-vision advocate Rebecca Rosenberg, the app allows users to customize their mobile device camera feed with tailored filters for contrast, zoom, hue, and lighting adjustments. This ensures users can read directional signs, gate numbers, menus, and departure boards more easily.

A major feature of the rollout is ReBokeh AI, which offers an interactive experience where users can ask questions about their surroundings and receive visual descriptions in real-time. The AI tool supports multiple languages, adjusting automatically to the user's phone settings—functioning as both a vision aid and translation assistant.

“Navigating MIA just got easier for our low-vision community,” said Miami-Dade County officials, reflecting the region’s broader commitment to inclusive public services.

Leading the future of accessible travel

Miami International Airport's launch of ReBokeh is more than just another tech upgrade—it marks a global leadership stance in accessibility. The airport was previously recognized as the first in Florida and second nationwide to receive ACI’s Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation, thanks to its forward-thinking policies for travelers with disabilities.

With Miami International Airport welcoming more international travelers than nearly any other U.S. airport and contributing significantly to Florida's tourism economy, ensuring access for all visitors, regardless of ability, is both a moral imperative and a smart investment in inclusive tourism.

ReBokeh’s availability is part of MIA’s broader push to modernize its services with an unprecedented $9 billion capital improvement plan, reinforcing its role as the economic powerhouse of Miami-Dade County and a global leader in smart, human-centered infrastructure.
