The Florida-based non-profit organization, Care Resource, is organizing an event to mark World AIDS Day
Care Resource is a Florida-based non-profit organization having health centers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. This federally qualified organization has been offering medical care for locals at economical rates.
This December 1st, on World AIDS Day, Care Resource is hosting an event in its honor.
Here’s more on this event.
What is World AIDS Day?
84.2 million people have been affected by HIV since the epidemic’s beginning. Moreover, approximately 40.1 million individuals have lost their lives because of this virus.
In solidarity with the people affected by HIV, World AIDS Day is observed every year on December 1st. On this day, all stand together and share their experiences while remembering those who've lost their lives while fighting against HIV.

The event will run from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with the theme “Healing Through the Arts”. It will take place on the rooftop of Care Resource’s Midtown Miami health center on 3510 Biscayne Boulevard.
This tribute is a chance to recognize, honor, and commemorate the medical advancements made for 3 decades.
The event will feature a candlelight vigil, poetry readings, the United Ballroom Houses of South Florida’s dance performance, stunning donated art pieces, and much more.
In addition, Care Resource’s event integrates four pillars of putting this epidemic to an end. The four pillars are:
- Diagnosis
- Prevention
- Treatment
- Response
Care Resource’s Chief Medical Officer, Steven Santiago, states that World AIDS Day is a reminder that HIV is still prevalent. He adds the event’s four pillars are critical for boosting awareness and education.
Steven Santiago says that all the pillars play a role. For instance, diagnosis reminds us that there are some individuals with HIV that are unaware of it. While prevention reminds us that we need to improve techniques to reduce the infection rate.
Moreover, treatment and response remind us that there’s still hope and new cases are still rising.
