A young Cuban designer, who came to the US in 2005, and has been working in the industry for several years, shares an incredible story of how she manifested a breakthrough in her career. Judith Cabrera walks us through the grueling process of pulling off this incredible feat in less time than it takes to even come up with an idea.
What makes Judith Cabrera the Perfect Choice
Sleepless nights, blood, sweat, and tears, and making her studio home for 10 days, Cabrera not only rose up to the challenge to become Yotuel Romero and Beatriz Luengo’s go-to choice for the Latin Grammy Awards.
This passionate, creative individual is someone who’s always given back and been strongly connected to and proud of her Cuban roots. It was her desire to support a cause close to her heart that orchestrated fate to bring this opportunity her way.
The Cuban musicians wanted to work exclusively with a Cuban designer, and she happened to be the perfect fit. It makes sense, given that they all are vocal about the crisis in their home country, and it was their passion that allowed them to come together to create outfits that were nothing short of artwork.
Representing the Cuban flag on both outfits, they showed their collective solidarity with the people of Cuba and made a loud, impossible-to-ignore statement. It was the perfect way to reiterate the message of freedom they so strongly believe in while also representing Cubans and their hard work.
