Driver license Assistance: Miami-Dade Clerk of Court launches Operation Green Light

The Operation Green Light initiative offers savings on collection fees and aims to reduce driver license suspensions

Miami-Dade County residents who have faced driver license suspensions due to point suspensions, unpaid traffic tickets, child support delinquencies, and more now have an opportunity to get back on the road legally. Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Clerk of the Court and Comptroller for Miami-Dade County, has announced "Operation Green Light," a special driver license reinstatement event aimed at reducing the number of driver license suspensions and providing financial relief to the community.

Waiving collection driver license fees for residents

Operation Green Light, led by Fernandez-Barquin, seeks to relieve the burden on residents striving to fulfill their court obligations. During this initiative, the Clerk of the Court's office has been authorized to waive collection fees, significantly reducing the financial obligations of affected individuals. This reduction in fees will enable them to establish payment programs if necessary, ultimately leading to the reinstatement of their driver's licenses.

Fernandez-Barquin emphasized the initiative's main goal, stating that the goal of Operation Green Light is to help as many residents as possible during this period. By removing the financial barriers that often hinder license reinstatement, the initiative aims to empower residents to regain their driving privileges while complying with their court-related responsibilities.

Addressing all court-related financial obligations

Operation Green Light provides an opportunity for residents to address all their court-related financial obligations during the specified period from September 1 to 17, 2023, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm. Whether individuals face unpaid traffic tickets, child support delinquencies, or point suspensions, this event offers a comprehensive solution to clear their records and reinstate their driver's licenses.

The Operation Green Light will take place in various locations, including Coral Gables District Court, Miami Beach District Court, Hialeah District Court, North Dade Justice Center, Joseph Caleb Center Court, Richard E. Gerstein Justice Center, Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center, and South Dade Justice Center.
