Urban Health Partnership for the second year in a row will co-sponsor the children’s face painting and activity booth. Visitors will have the pleasure of enjoying shows from local dance schools. You can learn how to make your very own Holiday Wreath with Marta of @305CakesbyLola too! The Umbrellas of Little Havana Art Festival is a true rainbow of art and artists coming together at a time of the year when the world is focused on Miami’s art scene all around the city.
Spectacular, unique umbrellas have made their mark since 2003 when the first Umbrellas of Little Havana Art Festival took place. Renowned artists like famous caricaturist Aristides Pumariega and muralist Atomik have painted their trademark art on their umbrellas. Artists like Cesar Santalo, Ninoska Perez Castellon, Perla Gonzalez have participated in previous years. Traditional Cuban themes like La Virgen de la Caridad and historic Cuban buildings have been favorites. Pit Bull, The Miami Heat and Celia Cruz have also been favorites and fun topics for the umbrellas. Every year we integrate new, up and coming artists to Umbrellas like Julio Roberto, Jhon Michael Florez, Mikeya Brown, Ramon Altamirano, Crystal Garcia, Jonathan Olaya, King Redd just to name a few. This year we have the privilege of having Miami Lighthouse for the Blind under the direction of their art instructor, Aaron Hill, join us.
A new addition to the festival is a Writer’s Corner; where we will have with us author Ryan Calejo who will be signing his latest book ‘Charlie Hernandez & the Castle of Bones’ all three days.
