Learn to release happy hormones on the International Day of Happiness in Miami
Every year, the world celebrates the International Day of Happiness on 20th March. The United States created this official holiday in 2013 to recognize the importance of joy and happiness as universal aspirations for people around the world.
This year’s theme is Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind. Keeping in mind these themes, let’s explore ways to celebrate the International Day of Happiness in Miami.
1. Say No to Toxicity
The first step to feeling joy is by surrounding yourself with good vibes. You can’t feel elevated if you are swamped in a dump of negative energy. Commit to feeling good for one day. It can mean different things to different people.
You can boycott negative news, take social media hiatus, hang out with people who boost your mood, read books on positivity, listen to feel-good music and podcasts, and watch a good movie.
You can also join the most diverse and largest forum of happiness that happens every year in Miami from March 23rd to 25th. The event includes sessions and activities to improve your mood and life altogether.
2. Create A List of Joys
Plan your day ahead by creating a list of joys. It can include anything that makes you happy, regardless of how trivial or small they are. Don’t be too self-critical, and put anything and everything on the list that is a source of joy for you.
Think of what makes you smile when you’re in a bad mood. It could be heading to Miami Beach to spend some quality time alone. You may love exploring eateries and restaurants with friends. Perhaps, you love to stay low-key and discover new music.
The more specific you are, the more options you get that can sort your whole day of happiness.
3. Relish in Nature
Being out in nature is a great way to spend a day of joy. Nature is a great mood booster as it can relieve stress and anxiety. Miami has some amazing spots for nature lovers.
You can visit Barnacle Historic State park for a low-key day in nature. Alternatively, Lion County Safari is an affordable option for spending time in nature. There are botanical gardens, nature trails, and beaches to break free from the hustle culture.
You can stroll on well-kept walkways in Miami, walk barefoot on the grass to feel grounded, or lay in a secluded area in a garden to bask under the sun.
4. Be Kind
The most beautiful thing about being a human is that even when you’re sad or hurting, you can always be kind to others. This, in turn, boosts your mood. On this International Day of Happiness, you can do an act of kindness for someone you love.
Take a volunteer job for the day, compliment someone, give a present to your loved ones, cook for someone, or write a note of gratitude for someone who has positively influenced your life. Take your parents, friends, or significant other to their favorite restaurant in Miami or arrange a spa day for them. Seeing them happy will ultimately give you pure bliss.
There’s no limit to kindness as long as you’re doing something from a place of sincere thoughtfulness.
5. Be Grateful
There’s so much to be grateful for, but humans often can’t see that. While it’s normal to feel sad and overlook all the good things we take for granted, you should focus on good things from time to time.
As the saying goes, “It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.” Learn to focus on good things in your life. On international happiness day, you can write down at least three things you are thankful for.
This will help you turn attention to positive aspects of your life. Doing so gives you the strength to deal with the problems. You can learn to approach the challenges of life differently.
6. Learn Something New
Being happy isn’t easy. It takes true commitment to feel joyful. One way to ensure that you’re living your life to the fullest is by learning something new. You can learn a new tool for happiness on the International Day of Happiness in Miami.
Take an art and crafts class or a music lesson to learn something you’ve always wanted to learn. Commit to it for the entire year. This way, you can work on your self-growth and happiness simultaneously.
