Famous Musicians That Were Born in Miami

A musician walks on the stage through darkness and smoke.

Seeing as how Miami is one of the most culturally and socially diverse cities in the world, let alone the US, it comes as no surprise that so many famous musicians were also born here

Some of them are more well-recognized for their Miami roots and actively involved in the community or remain heavily influenced by Miami’s vibrant culture, while others are more hush-hush.

You can check out these incredible famous musicians here and see whose name you recognize:

Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan is one of the famous musicians who need no introduction. Although born in Havana, Cuba, the lead singer of the Miami Sound Machine, she with her husband Emilio Estefan are nothing short of legends in the city of Miami. The Cuban-American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman is a force to be reckoned with and has been making waves since the 1980s and has continued to top the charts and make headlines with everything she does. Miami is lucky to have such a talented individual call it home and build their legacy here the way she has in the last four decades.

Lil Pump

A little more unconventional and often underrated is the American-rapper, Lil Pump. This Gen-Z star started off making a name for himself on SoundCloud, going on to build a career among other very talented famous musicians. Known for his eccentric appearance, hyperactive public persona, and his uniquely entertaining music, the young rapper has worked with artists like Kanye West and continues to live in Miami’s Biscayne Bay.

Although currently on hiatus from the music scene since his latest album release in 2021, the talented young rapper has been working behind the scenes and continues to leave fans hopeful for more incredible music.

Sean Kingston

There’s no way you weren’t singing along to Beautiful Girls when it dropped in 2007, and you owe it all to the very talented Sean Kingston. The Jamaican-American singer-songwriter was born in Miami and has had several hits under his belt, including Fire Burning and his collaboration with Justin Bieber on Eenie Meenie. From club-goers to teens to kids, everyone’s danced and moved to Kington’s hit music at least once back in the day.

He continues to live in Miami even today and has continued to release music over the years despite a terrible accident, an open heart surgery, and a lot of challenges his way.

Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo (admit it, you read that in his smooth, mesmerizing voice) is another star that needs no introduction. Whether you grew up dancing to his music in the club, dancing to it at middle-school prom, or found him on TikTok, Jason Derulo is one of Miami-Dade’s most prolific performers. While he may not live in Miami-Dade at the moment, he remains connected to the region even today.
