How the car crash happened
Authorities said a woman driving a green Honda crashed into a wall made of concrete. The vehicle then glided over all lanes, crashing into the highway's right wall in the process. While slowing down to help the woman who had driven into the walls, a man driving a white Volkswagen got hit by a GMC SUV. The SUV was being driven by another man.
How parents, students, and the school are responding
The GMC's driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the site. The woman driving the Honda was seriously injured and sent to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. The Honda's male driver was transferred to a local hospital, and his current prognosis is unclear.
It is still unclear what caused the crash, and the case is currently being investigated by police.
