Kodak Black has once again been taken to Broward County Jail
Florida Highway Patrol detained rapper Kodak Black on narcotics possession and trafficking offenses in Fort Lauderdale on the afternoon of July 15. Further investigation revealed that Black's registration and license were also expired, the agency claims.
This isn't Kodak Black’s first time in Broward County Jail. Black, now 25, has had a long history of legal problems, including a prison term on firearms charges that were reduced by former President Donald J. Trump on his final day in office.
About Kodak Black's arrest
Black, whose real name is Bill Kahan Kapri, was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol at 4:30 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale. Highway Patrol noticed that his purple Dodge Durango had windows that seemed to be darker than the legal limit. After detecting a distinct smell of marijuana, a search of the SUV revealed 31 white tablets in a small transparent bag and over $75,000 in cash. Later analysis confirmed that the pills were oxycodone.
The rapper was arrested and brought to the Broward County jail. As of Saturday, the Broward County Sheriff's Office reported that he had been released after posting a $75,000 bond.
The rapper's history of legal troubles
Black has been involved in numerous legal disputes over the years, dating back to 2014. He was detained in South Florida and charged with trespassing earlier this year. However, prosecutors ultimately decided not to pursue charges.
Additionally, he has completed 46 months of a three-year federal jail sentence for using forged paperwork to purchase firearms from a Miami gun shop. Donald Trump later reduced the rapper's sentence during his final hours in office in consideration of Black's philanthropic work.
