Details about the shooting in Little Havana:
Just before 9 a.m., shots were reportedly fired at La Portena, a popular restaurant in Little Havana. One of the victims, identified as Gregory Avile, said he was picking up food at the restaurant when an assailant went in, got into an argument with a patron, and opened fire.
While Avile escaped with a small cut to his foot, another man was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with similar injuries to both feet. His name and current health status are not disclosed yet. According to the eyewitness, the shooter left the scene shortly after firing.
While next-door neighbor Albert Borjas didn't hear the gunfire, he's not shocked it occurred. Borjas reported that incidents like these are common in the neighborhood. People break bottles, drunken people roam the streets aimlessly, and bar brawls turn into knife fights. Little Havana is no stranger to shootings that cost people their lives, so locals need to be careful
