Investigators look into the case of a man shot outside Little Havana home, piecing together what happened
Man shot outside Little Havana home
In a tragic and unfortunate incident on Thursday morning, a man shot outside Little Havana home was in his 40’s. Law enforcement was informed of the shooting around 2.45 am when it took place on Northwest 25th Avenue and Ninth Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, the man was found in critical condition, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and injuries. He was then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Fire Rescue personnel.
He later succumbed to his injuries and passed on, on Thursday.
What investigators have to say
It's unclear what the motivation behind this shooting was; speculations involve a mugging that went wrong, a targeted crime, or a random shooting. Police have not yet stated what their conclusions are and what they suspect.
No suspects have been identified either, and it remains unclear who was responsible for the shooting or the shooters' possible description. All that is known is that police are looking for a white vehicle.
The roadways between Northwest 24th-25th Avenues and Eighth-Ninth Streets were shut down and cut off from public access during the investigation.
A loss for the community
Of course, the Little Havana community is shaken by the incident, crime is all too common in the area sometimes but never is anything like this expected. The neighborhood is generally pretty safe and free of any kind of violent crime, making it all the more shocking and distressing to think about who could have been responsible for this heinous crime, or what their motive could be.
