Is Tokischa’s mustache at Premio Lo Nuestro a new fashion trend to look out for?

The Dominican artist, Tokischa, talks about her first nomination in Premio Lo Nuestro as she struts a mustache on the red carpet

Tokischa, a Dominican music artist, had been nominated for urban–female artist and new female artist of the year in Premio Lo Nuestro. Rocking her all-gold teeth and a mustache on the magenta red carpet, she was excited about the first nomination of her career.

Here is all about the Latin music awards and Tokischa’s plans for the future.

What’s up and about with Tokischa

Talking to the media on the red carpet, the Dominican artist also announced her “PopolaPresidente” tour. She’ll soon be hitting the road with this tour to visit Chile, Argentina, and several others countries for the first time.

She also revealed that her debut album is in talks and hopefully will drop next year though they still haven’t decided on a date yet. With her nominations in the United States’ top Latin music awards, she believes it’s a win for every woman due to the cultural representation they all get. “Woman is very powerful,” she exclaimed with all smiles.

I feel like a mere macho, but also as an exotic, fabulous empowered woman, to give everything

“The World is Ours” 2023 Premio Lo Nuestro theme

The award show ceremony honors the success of the biggest Latin music stars and celebrates the beauty of Latin music in the country. This year’s theme, “El Mundo Es Lo Nuestro” (The World is Ours), was co-hosted by Sebastian Yatra – a Colombian pop star, Paulina Rubio – Mexican superstar, Univision’s late-night show star Adrian Uribe, and Alejandra Espinoza – Mexican actress and TV presenter.

The award ceremony has all the elements of a fiery night, with Yatra leading the nominations with ten nods followed by Becky G, GrupoFirme, Bad Bunny, and Camilo with nine nods; Ozuna, Maluma, and Daddy Yankee with eight nods; Rosalia and Rauw Alejandro, Carin Leon, Carlos Vives, J Balvin and Karol G with seven nods.

The award show nominated 192 artists in 39 categories – all coming from diverse musical backgrounds.

The nominations factor in fan votes, entertainment experts, and the committee of music assessment and streaming counts. This year marked the 35th anniversary of this award ceremony.
