On Saturday, 24th December, as the city of Miami celebrated the most awaited holiday of the year; a man was shot dead in Coconut Grove.
The incident took place around 11.30 pm near a home in the 3703 block of Percival Avenue. The Miami police officers went to the location after three ShotSpotter alerts went out, a specialized system that detects gunfire.
When the police officers arrived, they found a man in his thirties shot several times. He was in critical condition and was immediately taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Trauma Center. The man died moments later.
No witnesses except neighbors who heard the sound of gunfire
No witnesses have come forward, and the authorities haven’t released any additional information. However, the neighbors have reported that it appeared that two people were involved in opening the fire.
The detectives on the case spent Christmas Eve at the crime scene, building up a case using evidence markers and K9 teams to search for any clues.
Neighbors seem to be wondering who is behind the shooting and how anyone could have caused a family this much mourning on Christmas, a time when everybody is supposed to come together and celebrate love.
