Dwayne Wade nominated for the Hall of Fame

Dwayne Wade continues to make Miami proud with his wins

After FTX Arena, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame may soon be the new "Wade's House". The three-time NBA champion has officially qualified for induction. Dwyane Wade, a former member of the Miami Heat, was announced as a finalist for induction into the NMB Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

Read on as we take a look back at the Miami Heat champion’s career and other stars who made the list.

Dwayne Wade’s illustrious basketball career

Dwayne Wade's career will always be remembered for his three NBA titles with the Heat and his unanimous first-round selection throughout his whole career, and this new induction just adds to his glorious streak of wins. Wade was the all-time top scorer for the Miami Heat, made 13 All-Star teams, and won three NBA titles in 2006, 2012, and 2013.

With his retirement from the 2018–19 season complete, Dwayne Wade now qualifies for the first ballot. If he were to be inducted, he would join Alonzo Mourning, Chris Bosh, Gary Payton, Pat Riley, Ray Allen, Shaquille O'Neal, and Tim Hardaway as the eighth former Heat player to be honored by the Hall of Fame.

Who else made it to the Hall of Fame nominees?

Several more well-known athletes have made the cut for the Hall of Fame. Parker and Popovich, who won four championships during their time in San Antonio, were also on the list. Popovich "Pops" also led the Spurs to their first title in 1999.

Nowitzzki was another name that doesn’t need an introduction. With 31,560 points in his career, Nowitzki is sixth all-time in NBA scoring and was the driving force behind Dallas's 2011 championship. Moreover, Gasol won two titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, represented Spain at the Olympics (winning two silver medals and one bronze medal), and has now made it to the nominees for the Hall of Fame.

Competition for the last spot will take place on February 17 at NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, and the Class of 2023 will be revealed on April 1 after the NCAA Final Four tournament.
