Innovative North Park Trail renovations are official

North Park Trail will soon have amenities for older adults

North Trail Park and Community Center repair and expansion were officially kicked off by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz and the county’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department on July 27. The renovation underway hopes to improve the lives of senior citizens residing in the locale.

About the North Park Trail renovation

The North Park Trail revitalization project will replace the current 6,742 square feet of community center space with all-new roofs, floors, windows, paint, doors, lighting, and decor.

The community center will get 1,644 square feet in additional space. This area will feature a new reception and multi-purpose room that can also be partitioned into two independent areas.

Once the renovations are complete, patrons can look forward to other useful amenities. Other constructions on the park property include a restroom of about  880 square foot. A drinking fountain and increased space for storage will be constructed on the property soon after the renovations are completed.

Two additional accessible parking spots and six additional bicycle parking spaces will be added to the site, along with fresh landscaping. The county has also announced that plans are underway for a splash pad and a playground inspired by natural sights.

Why North Trail Park needs a makeover

There couldn’t be a better time for the North Park Trail revitalization project to begin since National Parks and Recreation month was all about recognizing the importance of natural parks in the country! North Trail Park is popular among families in Miami since it has several kid-friendly facilities. The park has charming pavilions, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, and even a skate park. It also offers basketball and boot camp classes for kids.

However, while families with young children feel welcome at the park, it lacks facilities for older adults. This is what the county’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department aims to address with these renovations. Residents can now look forward to a space that offers a great time for people of all ages.
