Farewell to former head coach Brian Flores

The Miami Dolphins bid farewell to their former head coach, Brian Flores, in a surprising turn of events. The announcement surprised many, who didn’t expect this change to happen after three years of Flores’ service.

His run also included two winning seasons, making it all the more shocking. In fact, Flores went on to sue the Dolphins and the NFL for their racist hiring practices.

Despite the public news of his firing, it wasn’t announced who would go on to replace him. This led to a lot of speculation and guesswork, looking at who the team’s owner and management may have been inclined toward.

Finally, though, on Thursday, just under a month after the news breaking, they announced a new Head Coach. Mike McDaniel is now taking over as the Miami Dolphins’ new Head Coach and will be coaching them through the upcoming season.

Who is Mike McDaniel?

Mike McDaniel is a 38-year-old Yale graduate with extensive coaching experience in the NFL. Since 2005 he’s coached the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and the Cleveland Browns, among others. Last season, he was the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, who made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

While he is yet to be introduced at a formal press conference, he recently signed a 4-year contract with the Miami Dolphins for the role of Head Coach, giving him a great chance to prove himself, his skill and talent, and lead the team to some possible wins.

What the Miami Dolphins hope to achieve

In the coming seasons, the Miami Dolphins, according to owner Stephen Ross, are hoping to make their mark on the NFL and other big-league championships. It’s a competitive sport with high-stakes and plenty of planning and coordination.

The hopes are that McDaniel can bring some of his innovative practices and techniques to the Dolphins, as he’s done for the 49ers over the past five seasons.
