Local family business Sergio’s Restaurant supports the community

In partnership with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and others, Sergio’s hosted a distribution of one million reusable masks to hospitality workers across Florida.

The Florida Restaurant we all know as Sergio's and Lodging Association (FRLA) recently hosted a distribution event at the in Sergio’s Restaurant at the Doral location, inviting U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, Lieutenant Governor Jeannette Nuñez and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

At the event, the FRLA announced their partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). They also distributed approximately one million reusable cloth masks to restaurant and hospitality workers throughout the state of Florida. Masks and face coverings have been essential during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing protection for the person wearing them and anyone they come in contact with by preventing small particles of saliva from touching other people when someone sneezes, coughs, or even breathes.

For restaurant and hospitality workers, masks are essential to assuring that food being served to customers is not contaminated and that businesses can operate smoothly and safely during the pandemic. According to the President of Sergio’s Family Restaurants and Executive Board Member of the FRLA, Carlos Gazitua, protecting employees and guests is the number one priority of the restaurant.
