The 4 day workweek becomes official in Davie, Florida

The 4 day workweek allows community members to enjoy extended service hours in Davie

The Town of Davie, Florida, is taking a bold step forward on Thursday, August 3, 2023, when it implements a 4 day workweek. According to the announcement, the new timetable will see municipal offices open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and closed on Fridays and Sundays.

The change is meant to make services more convenient for locals by opening earlier and staying open later. Read on to find out how this schedule affects your service experience as a community member.

How will the new 4 day workweek affect the community?

The 4 day workweek change is intended to improve service accessibility for locals by adding later opening and closing times. Several departments and services are included in the new timetable, from the Mayor's office, Admin and HR departments, to Community Redevelopment Agencies and Utilities Customer Service departments.

However, none of these 4 day workweek changes will impact the town's fire, rescue, or police departments' ability to respond to emergencies. Community members should remember that 911 should always be their first call in an emergency. The Utilities Division will keep running on a seven-day workweek to keep services running smoothly. Similarly, routine operations for Parks & Recreation facilities, programs, and activities will continue as usual.

Certain businesses will also continue to operate during their regular hours. Pine Island Multipurpose Center will maintain its regular business hours of 8 to 9:30 (Monday through Friday) and 8 to 5 (Saturday and Sunday). The Fitness and Aquatic Center will be open during its usual hours of operation: Monday through Friday, 5 to 9, and Saturday and Sunday, 8 to 5. The pool will also be accessible from 5 to 8, Monday through Friday, and from 9 to 5, Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, town recreational facilities and restrooms will continue to be open from 9 a.m. to sunset, as per customary. Customer assistance is available Monday through Thursday during normal business hours, with some limited availability after hours for emergencies only.
