The new movie "Cinderella" starring the singer Camila Cabello is a musical reinvention of the classic fairy tale.
The story of this modern "Cinderella" is based on an orphan maiden who yearns to be a successful dressmaker and not so much in seeking true love, although romance is not lacking.
In this musical version with feminist and diverse community touches, Cinderella confronts her evil stepsisters and gets into magical antics alongside a ball and a shoe.
An ambitious dressmaker
Camila Cabello plays the maid who dreams of opening her store called Dresses by Ella; Billy Porter is the Fabulous Fairy Godmother; Idina Menzel is the stepmother, and Nicholas Galitzine is Prince Robert.
Also starring are Pierce Brosnan (as King Rowan); Minnie Driver (Queen Beatrice); Tallulah Greive (Princess Gwen) and Maddie Baillio (Princess Malvolia).
Cabello, 24, is not impromptu at acting. "I've been taking acting lessons for a while, so that prepared me a lot," she told Entertainment Tonight about her first acting role in "Cinderella."
"I think it's about being there and having fun, and not taking yourself too seriously."
The "mouse" producer
"Cinderella" was created based on an idea by James Corden who is also one of the producers, and co-stars as one of the mouse friends of the maiden turned dressmaker, while Kay Cannon ("Pitch Perfect") wrote the script and directed the movie.
The costumes of the film are really spectacular. It was created by none other than designer Ellen Mirojnick, whose work is seen in the Netflix series “Bridgerton” and the films “The Greatest Showman” (2017), “The Girl in a Spider's Web” (2018), and “Maleficent. : Mistress of Evil ”(2019).
The production of "Cinderella" ended a long time ago but due to the pandemic, the date of its premiere was postponed, as has happened with many films in 2020.
Who is Camila Cabello?
You may not know her yet, but here we tell you who is this young Cuban star who conquered the lights of the United States.
Camila Cabello was born on March 3, 1997 in Cojímar, Cuba, east of Havana, as Karla Camila Cabello Estarbao. Her father is Mexican and her mother is Cuban.
In 2016 Camila Cabello left the group and launched herself as a soloist, achieving musical success and fame with the single “Havana”, which topped all the rankings and became the most played song on Spotify by a female solo artist, in June of 2018.
Perhaps you remember the song “Señorita” that we all hummed in 2019 until we were tired and that she also recorded with Canadian Shawn Mendes, her boyfriend since then.
The reviews haven't been very kind to “Cinderella,” an Amazon Studios production, but I think it's worth watching and having a good time. There is a lot of color, humor, and music.
