Miami’s always got something or the other going on, with incredible festivals, events, and so much more to look forward to each week. This week, we’re excited for the return of Miami’s Art Deco Festival Weekend from the 14th to the 16th of January, 2022.
The festival attracts upwards of 400,000 people each year, and 2022 is likely to get even bigger and better. But if you’re someone who’s never been there before, or you’re from out of town, this article will serve as the perfect guide:
Where will the Miami Art Deco Festival take place?
Founded over 45 years ago by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), the Art Deco Festival takes place in Miami Beach over three days, offering a full weekend of fun-filled activities and sights. Typically it takes place in Miami’s famous Art Deco District but extends out of the neighborhood too, as part of the celebration.
Where do I stay if I’m from out of town?
For travelers and tourists, South and Miami Beach have some of the most breathtaking hotels and accommodations that you can stay in. From Kimpton Agler’s Hotel to 1 Hotel South Beach, there’s an endless range of options. For something quieter, you can also check out boutique hotels, inns, and bed-and-breakfasts in other localities such as Little Havana. Miami’s no stranger to all kinds of accommodations, and you’ll definitely find a lot of incredible options.
What can I expect to see and do there?
The aim of Art Deco Weekend is to celebrate and preserve the incredible culture and history as well as to highlight the wonderful architecture of the city. They have activities and attractions that align with those values and support local businesses, including different kinds of guided tours, art exhibitions, a classic car exhibition, lots of fun activities for kids and young adults, and much more.
We strongly recommend taking a walking tour of the Art Deco District to learn about its history and architecture, dressing up to watch the Retro Fashion Show which will transport you to a different time, going on a night and neon light tour, and the antique cars show. Other than that, there’s a dog show, various food and souvenir stalls, and different small businesses coming together along the promenade. It’s also the perfect time to enjoy some of Miami’s incredible street food!
