Many stay-at-home mompreneurs struggle with work outside the home, but these home-based businesses are the perfect solution
Being stay-at-home mompreneurs is tough work, and there's no denying the amount of unpaid labor, the constant-ness, and the thanklessness of it all, despite the love and admiration your family and society may have. It's important to cut yourself some slack and work on your own passions as well, and if entrepreneurship brings you joy, there are some great home-based businesses and services that are worth a shot.
Consider the following business ideas that mompreneurs can develop and run right out of your home, giving you the flexibility, time, and financial freedom you need:
Start a blog online
If there’s one industry that is currently blowing up, it’s mom blogging. It's a tough industry to break into because of all the super talented, witty, and informative mompreneurs and bloggers out there, but that doesn't mean it's off-limits. In fact, it's a system that depends heavily on friendship, networking, and finding your own niche, so while it may take some hard work and experimentation, you can definitely set up a blog online. There are various platforms that allow you to link social media to your blog as well, allowing you to monetize, market, and promote content more easily.
Alternatively, you can also start affiliate marketing and start a blog dedicated to that. You don't have to pay much if at all, to get started; it's flexible and yields great results.
Freelance in a field you enjoy
Freelancing is another great option for mompreneurs working at home since it allows you to work in a field that you enjoy or you have skills and experience in. You can work as a freelance writer, graphic designer, website researcher, photographer, or really any field or industry you're interested in. This is a great way to monetize your skills and experience while also building a portfolio and clientele along the way.
Make and sell unique products
If you’re crafty, have a creative eye, and have a unique idea for products, make and sell your own products as mompreneurs! From gift baskets to jewelry items to customized wallets, there’s no end to the things that you can create if you know how to market them right. If you’re not sure what products you can make and sell, do a little market research and see what people are in need of.
You can create some great products for kids or for parents and help make their lives easier and more convenient with your invention!
Create a home-based food business
If there’s one thing a lot of moms may have mastered over time, it’s cooking and/or baking. Years of figuring out healthy but delicious meals for fussy eaters, cooking for the family, and coming into your own as a cook may have given you the skills it takes to do this professionally. Look up the rules and regulations for home-based cooking businesses, and get working to sell your world-famous empanadas or that delicious flan your grandma taught you!
