Father and Son of Yambo Restaurant still serving the community after 38 years
It is not often that restaurants become a staple of the community, but Yambo Restaurant is unlike any other. At Yambo Restaurant it is not just about the delicious food they serve, but the love that comes from within. It is a father and son business that genuinely cares about its customers. It is our pleasure to highlight their restaurant in honor of Father’s Day!
Armando Perez and son Rey Perez have owned and ran Yambo Restaurant for almost 40 years. The restaurant offers traditional Nicaraguan cuisine such as their delicious carne asada, and lengua en salsa. In fact, they are known for having the best grilled meat in Miami since 1983! You are sure to find something delicious and unique at Yambo Restaurant, we guarantee it!
Things have not been easy for the restaurant during the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many the restaurant overcame the hurdles it faced and is open for business for all who wish to enjoy its delicacies. It is quite inspiring to see the dream of two generations come to be with the restaurant.
Just recently, a group of City of Miami Police gathered at Yambo Restaurant in celebration of having the freedom to be able to get together after so many months of not being able to do so. Officers Jose Pastor, Commander Jose Alfonso, Officer Gomez, Pablo Canton, and Sergeant Manny Armenteros were present at the restaurant also bidding a happy farewell to Officer Luis Pla who will be retiring from the City of Miami Police Department in the first week of July.
“We celebrated FREEDOM! We can now have lunch together, as everything is now going back to normal,” said Pablo Canton who ran the Little Havana Neighborhood Enhancement Team Administrator and worked together with the City of Miami police officers for over 20 years to improve the quality of life in Little Havana.
For them, it was a no-brainer to have their celebration at Yambo Restaurant. A restaurant that has always supported the City of Miami Police Department as well as the community. Maybe it’s because Armando Perez and son Rey personally go above and beyond for those in the community or maybe it’s the food you should decide for yourself.
