The local comedian @thehorse305 lost 10,000 Instagram followers but is now booking up to 200 people at his comedy shows
@thehorse305, also known as Marcos Alexander Tabares, is a local stand-up comedian. He started his journey as a Miami influencer eight years ago. With puppet Pepe Billete as his mentor, Tabares started his comedy. He later branched off and started his own Instagram where he became an influencer.
However, when Tabares had gained 10,000 followers, Instagram deleted his account. Tabares never found out why, but he was devastated by the loss of this platform. He felt as though he would never get so high a following again, like he was set back.
Since he lost his main source of income, Tabares had to return to living with his mother for three years. In that time, he learned video production and began to build his current platform @thehorse305.
After three years, he decided he was ready to start his journey as an influencer again. He entered social media with more confidence because he had his video production skills to fall back on.
Tabares quickly built his platform @thehorse305 to where it is now, with 32.2 thousand followers. Doing standup comedy is now where he gets his main source of income, making around $4,000 to $5,000 per show. At his shows, he usually averages 150 to 200 people in the audience. This comes from his nonstop promotion for at least a month before the show.
Tabares notes that he loves what he does because he gets to make money by expressing his risqué thoughts.
“I make people laugh via saying what people think, but don’t want to say. That’s how I make my money.”

In the future, Tabares hopes to be able to expand his audience outside of Miami. He wants to make his way up north and prove that he can adapt his humor to other audiences. Right now, his act is something only Miamians will be able to understand, but he hopes to change that.
He also hopes to produce more content and eventually pitch to big networks. His biggest dream is to create a show like the comedy show In Living Color for Hispanics.
