Hialeah Hospital announces Tele-ER visits
As of May 8, 2021, Hialeah Hospital announced that patients will have the option to do their emergency room visit via Tele-ER. This means that patients will be able to talk to a board-certified Emergency Room physician 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To access the service, patients must have access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
This is also great for those times when patients are unsure if they should go to a hospital to receive treatment. The goal is that more people will be seen with less wait, and the emergency room will face a reduction in traffic.
“We are excited to announce the launch of Tele-ER. Patients will be able to make direct contact with an Emergency healthcare provider from the comfort of their own home,” said Michael Bell, chief executive officer of Hialeah Hospital.
The great thing about Tele-ER is that patients can easily access it by calling 1-833-4-Tele-ER and schedule a visit anytime during the day or night. A staff member will then register the patient and conduct a private and individual ER evaluation. Again, it is very important that the patient has a reliable Wifi connection and access to a device with a camera.
In the case that patients seen through Tele-ER need in-person care, diagnostic procedures, or lab tests, they will be asked to physically come into the hospital. As Executive Bell said, “Tele-ER provides a new solution for convenient access to care. If your condition requires a visit to the emergency department, please know we are safe, equipped, and ready.”
Be aware that Tele-ER is an evaluation tool for patients that need emergency care, but it is not a substitute for calling 9-1-1. If you find yourself in a state of emergency, please call 9-1-1 as soon as possible. If the condition of a patient worsens quickly, seek immediate attention from 9-1-1, or go to the closest Emergency Department.
