One dead, three injured: 24-year-old shooting suspect unknown

Miami-Dade police discovered the victims after the fatal shooting in Homestead and are in search of any leads to a 24 year old

On the 15th of January, just before 4 pm, four people were shot at while exiting a home in Homestead. While the shooters were gone when police arrived, shots were likely fired from a vehicle. 24-year-old Dontravis Byrd lost his life, while the other three were left in need of serious medical attention. Anyone with any information about this tragic and fatal shooting should bring it to the police department immediately.

What we know so far

Signs show that this was a drive-by shooting. It was originally flagged by a Shot Spotter alert to discover one woman and three men and had been victims of the shooting. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Southwest 6th street, outside the victim’s home.

The surviving victims were rushed to Jackson South Medical Center but reportedly were stable. They have been identified as 20-year-old Lamar Kendall, 24-year-old Dyvon Smith, and 29-year-old Shanice Byrd. The scene was littered with evidence, including bullet casings, which police hope will assist them in their search for the perpetrator.

The outlook

A special line has been set up for anyone with any helpful information. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is available at 305-471-TIPS. Crimes like these can be solved much quicker with witness accounts and any insight into circumstances. Detectives currently have little to go on and encourage people to speak up. Sometimes, even minor details can lead to big breakthroughs, and since this fatal shooting seemed to have been executed with some degree of forethought, the culprits still pose a threat to society at large.
