The great Christmas Outreach: Miami comes together to share hope and holiday cheer at The Caring Place

A Christmas outreach of compassion serving thousands of families across Miami and Broward bringing meals, gifts, and hope to the most vulnerable

The holidays in Miami aren’t just about lights, music, and celebrations—from Little Havana to Coral Gables, this season is also about community stepping up for those who need it most. This year, The Caring Place @MiamiRescueMission and Broward Outreach Centers served more than 2,000 Christmas meals to homeless and hungry families across South Florida. In a moment when many struggle to stay afloat, this annual tradition reminds us of the heart and generosity that define our community.

A community outreach rooted in love and service

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, volunteers, faith partners, and local supporters came together at both the Miami and Hollywood campuses to serve heartfelt Christmas meals and distribute essential hygiene bags. At the Miami campus, Chaplain Roberto Castillo shared an encouraging holiday message, while in Broward, Chaplain Betancourt delivered a powerful Christmas reflection.

These gatherings go far beyond a warm meal. Through Winter Wonderland and Angel Children—two special companion events—residents and program graduates received gifts for their children, helping families strengthen connections during what can be a challenging season. Supporters such as Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, The Quigley Family, and numerous faith-based organizations made these celebrations possible with toy and meal sponsorships.

A tradition of giving that lifts the spirit of the entire community

For many families in Miami-Dade and Broward, the holidays bring financial strain and emotional hardship. The Caring Place understands this deeply, which is why their annual Great Christmas Outreach is designed to offer not only food and gifts but dignity, warmth, and a sense of belonging.

Antonio “Tony” Villasuso, President of The Caring Place, shared, “It’s a privilege and a blessing during the Holiday Season to help provide meals and gifts to those who need it the most. We want our homeless and needy families to know they are not forgotten and that we love them.”

This year’s outreach also connects with a large toy distribution on December 20th for pre-registered families—another reminder that Miami’s generosity continues long after the lights and music fade.

As the holidays unfold across South Florida, events like this remind us of what truly matters: community, compassion, and showing up for one another.
