Join the manatee madness at Manatee Lagoon's 'Manatee Moments' event on November 18 and celebrate the start of the manatee season!
The sea cows are back, and they're ready to make a splash! Manatee Lagoon is one of Florida's best-kept secrets, and to celebrate the beginning of manatee season, they are hosting an event called "Manatee Moments." There will be free face painting, scavenger hunts, and marine-themed merchants at this family-friendly event on Saturday, November 18.
"Manatee Moments" for conservation and awareness
Manatee Lagoon's "Manatee Moments" event isn't just about fun and games; it's a mission to promote conservation and safety awareness for these gentle giants. Manatee Lagoon's senior operations manager, Zack Greenberg, echoes his enthusiasm, stating that they're planning this event in the hopes that people would learn more about manatees in their natural environment and have an excellent time doing it. Manatee Lagoon's mission is to encourage people to take care of Florida's natural resources for the sake of future generations.
A complimentary waterproof phone pouch, including instructions on how to notify a manatee in danger if seen in the wild, will be given to the first 400 guests. It's a little contribution that might have a major impact on the survival of these extraordinary animals.
Explore the enhanced Manatee Lagoon experience
While celebrating the start of manatee season is reason enough to visit, there's more to discover at Manatee Lagoon. The facility has undergone a fantastic transformation, now boasting new exhibits and programs to keep you engaged and informed. As you wander through, you'll come across three life-sized manatee statues, a seagrass exhibit, and a Florida mangroves exhibit.
Now in its 7th year, Manatee Lagoon is more than simply a tourist attraction; it is also a local gathering place and a prime educational resource on these iconic Florida species. Manatee Lagoon was constructed in 2016 as part of Florida Power & Light's (FPL) environmental initiative to raise awareness about manatees and their vital role in the ecosystem.
So, mark your calendars for the "Manatee Moments" event on November 18, and dive into a day of family fun, conservation, and appreciation for these marvelous marine creatures. Don't forget to visit the enhanced Manatee Lagoon facility to explore their new exhibits, reinforcing the importance of preserving Florida's environment and wildlife for future generations.
