Fernandez's album titled PA'LANTE was nominated for the Latin Grammys in 2020 for Best Traditional Tropical Album. The album includes world-renowned guest artists from the classical and Latin music industry and is available on all digital platforms. Since 2014, Fernandez has participated in the creation of various Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-nominated projects.
Ernesto Fernandez holds a Doctoral Degree of Musical Arts in Instrumental Performance with an emphasis in Music Business from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. He is currently both an educator of secondary and collegiate level students and a performing and recording artist.
Fernandez has been an avid flute player for quite some time. His talent was evident when at just ten years old, he recorded and performed his first solo album titled “El Comienzo” (The Beginning) under the production of Nelson Medina and Sumando Amigos.
Since then, he has made various TV appearances and performed all over the world. Some of the places include Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Toronto, and Chicago, to name a few. In 2017, Fernandez was the featured artist at the Galway Flute Festival in Switzerland. In 2019, he premiered his danzón Nuestra Vida at the National Flute Convention in Salt Lake City. Further, in 2020 Fernandez was the headline act at the annual Florida Flute Convention, where he performed the Gala Concert and taught a flute masterclass to high school students.
Fernandez is also a very charitable person. Previously he has performed at the "De Nino a Nino" (From Child to Child) concert to benefit the homeless children of the Dominican Republic in partnership with the non-profit Children of the Way. Dr. Fernandez is not just concerned about himself but wants to give back to others as well.
We congratulate him on his nomination and look forward to what the future holds for Dr. Ernesto Fernandez.
