Messi the FIFA star has broken more records than one with his trending Instagram post

Following his sensational victory in the FIFA World Cup, Lionel Messi, Argentina’s most beloved soccer player,has gained the title of securing the most-liked Instagram post of all time, with over 71 million likes and counting. The previous most-liked record was held by a photo of a brown egg, which was posted on Instagram in 2019.

After earning Argentina a victory in FIFA World Cup, Lionel Messi posted a series of photos on Instagram showcasing his celebrations.

The image carousel includes a picture of him smiling and holding the trophy, as well as photos of him celebrating with his teammates and participating in the post-match ceremony.

The caption calls them “Champions of the World,” followed by him mentioning how they’ve shown the world once more how Argentineans are capable of achieving it all when they come together.

Lionel Messi's Instagram gained over 62 million likes in just over a day. Before this, the record for the most-liked Instagram post was a photo of a brown egg, which received 56 million likes in January 2019.

Messi has broken four other records in addition to the sensational Instagram post

Lionel Messi recently broke the record for the most-liked Instagram post and has also set four other Guinness World Record titles. These records include the following:

  • Most "Man of the Match" awards won at the World Cup (11 awards)
  • First person to assist at five different World Cups
  • Most World Cup appearances as a captain (19 appearances)
  • Most World Cup tournaments played by a male player (5 tournaments)
