Giving Thanks on Good Friday: Miami and Broward unite to serve the homeless

Community comes together to support over 2,000 in need

The Caring Place at Miami Rescue Mission | Broward Outreach Centers are preparing for their annual Giving Thanks on Good Friday Outreach on April 18, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. With the help of over 300 volunteers, this heartfelt initiative will provide essential services, food, and support to more than 2,000 homeless and low-income individuals across South Florida.

A day of compassion and service

The Good Friday Outreach will take place at The Caring Place campuses in Miami and Broward County, where volunteers will serve meals, distribute hygiene kits, and offer much-needed support to those experiencing homelessness. Among the day’s highlights is the Mission Hope Bag distribution, which includes clothing, socks, and hygiene essentials. Additionally, showers will be available at the Miami center, and volunteers will participate in a powerful foot-washing ceremony as a symbol of humility and service.

For families in need, the event will bring joy to over 400 children, with special Easter baskets filled with treats and surprises to brighten their holiday.

One man’s journey: Brian’s story of redemption

Brian, a graduate of The Caring Place, is a living example of the power of support and faith. After losing his younger sibling, he struggled with depression, turning to alcohol and drugs as an escape. His life spiraled further after an arrest for public intoxication. It was at The Caring Place that Brian found a structured, supportive environment, leading him to pursue a career in the medical field at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College. His story reminds us that change is possible, and events like this provide hope to those in desperate need.
