Brightline expansion to Orlando was announced with a September 22 launch

Brightline confirms the launch of its 170-mile Orlando extension with special discounted fares

The only privately funded higher-speed rail service Brightline is all set to inaugurate its long-anticipated 170-mile Orlando extension, with services kicking off on September 22. This expansion marks a significant milestone for the rail company and brings it closer to fulfilling its ambitious business model. The President of Brightline, Patrick Goddard, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, highlighting the strong interest from both the tourism and business sectors in connecting Central and South Florida.

Early booking surge; expanded Brightline route and speeds

The announcement has already sparked a surge in bookings, with one Fort Lauderdale-bound train on the railroad's booking website, gobrightline.com, already sold out. The schedule for September 22 features five roundtrip journeys, with additional services planned for the following days. Brightline aims to operate a total of "16 roundtrips in a matter of weeks," according to a company spokesperson.

The extended rail line, spanning 235 miles from Orlando to downtown Miami, will include stops at West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, in addition to the newer stations in Boca Raton and Aventura. The trains will reach speeds of up to 125 mph along a new railroad between Cocoa and the Orlando International Airport station.
