Participate in and enjoy the Art of Black initiative for Black History Month
There’s something to be said about the incredible month-long celebration observed across the US, and certain parts of the world, known as Black History Month. The month sets out to honor, venerate and celebrate the achievements of black people who’ve contributed to society in fields of art, medicine, literature, activism and enriched our society beyond our imagination. That’s why the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (GMCVB) Multicultural Travel & Tourism division has launched a program known as Art of Black.
More About Art of Black
Art of Black is a program founded by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (GMCVB) Multicultural Travel & Tourism division to encourage more artistic expression.
It’s an ongoing initiative that celebrates creators and artists from Africa and the Caribbean, and in the US. It is a virtual and in-person initiative that helps document, record, and display different artwork and creations across genres and specialties.
It’s a celebration of black excellence in the highest form and organized since 2016. The show was started in honor of Michael Richards, a young, up-and-coming artist who lost his life in the 9/11 attacks.
How to Participate in and Support the Program
If you’re interested in supporting the event, you can attend various events such as the Melanin Miami Experience or the Glasshouse Comedy Experience Miami.
Events are being scheduled pretty frequently by the organizers, and there’s no better time than Black History Month to kick off your participation and attendance. Some events may be ticketed, so it’s always a good idea to check ahead of time before your schedule a plan.
