10th annual Bike305 "Bike to Work Day with Mayor Daniella Levine Cava

The Bike305 Bike to Work Day event led by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava leads

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava led the 10th anniversary of Bike305 Bike to Work Day ride event. Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces hosted the event. This annual ride event shows the residents of Miami the ease of riding bicycles to school, work, and other destinations.

The event also promotes bicycles as a healthy and fun alternative to other modes of transport while also allowing residents to avoid heavy traffic. Read on.

Bike305 highlights at Haulover Park

The kickoff ceremony began at Haulover Park, where Mayor Levina Cava and Parks Director Maria I. Nardi remarked and presented the Bike305 Municipality of the Year Award to Aventura. The award recognized the efforts and contribution of The City of Aventura in demonstrating cycling safety and cycling to school children and residents throughout the year.

The Bike 2 Work Day event in Miami-Dade is a tradition that Miami-Dade County’s mayor was proud to join. She also stated that this day allows the residents to relish nature by being outdoors without driving.

With this event, locals can enjoy the scenic beauty of the county with bike paths and reduced traffic. Using bikes to work also improves mobility for locals.

More officials joined Mayor Daniella

Mayor Daniella was joined by transportation executives, residents, and elected officials of Miami-Dade municipalities for a 6-mile bike ride to Founders Park in the City of Aventura. The bicyclists crossed the inter-coastal waterways escorted by police officers.

Participants received refreshments, free Bike305 performance shirts, and bicycle helmets. Mack Cycle & Fitness and AvMed sponsored the Bike 2 Work Day event. Those looking for more information on the event can contact the Bike305 manager at kawaler@miamidade.gov.

Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces being the 3rd largest park system in the US, manages over 40,000 acres of natural areas and parks and 285 parks comprising nature preserves and active and passive lands.

With their unique methods of park and recreation system, the event ended on a successful note promoting mobility, health and fitness, and stewardship.
