Cuban-American actor Andy García will star in the new version of the film “Father of the Bride” produced by Warner Bros. and Plan B Entertainment.
Andy Garcia will play the overprotective father of the bride as actor Steve Martin did in the 1991 version, but with Latin ingredients.
"Father of the Bride" will be a romantic comedy that will tell the story of a father who faces the imminent wedding of his daughter and the multiple relationships that exist within a large Cuban-American family.
This movie will be directed by the Mexican Gaz Alazraki, (“Club de Cuervos”) while Matt Lopez (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, “Bedtime Stories”) will write the script, and Andy García himself will serve as the executive producer.
"I am very excited to join 'Father of the Bride,' a much loved film that has brought so much joy to many over the years, and for representing my Cuban culture and heritage in this story," Garcia said in a statement.
“I congratulate Warner Bros. for their foresight and celebrate this opportunity they have created. I look forward to collaborating with our talented director Gaz Alazraki and Plan B producers, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner, ”added the celebrated actor.
Singer Gloria Estefan and Puerto Rican actress Adria Arjona will join the stellar cast that will accompany Andy García in this new version, and other Latino actors are likely to join.
The first movie "Father of the Bride" starred Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett, and Elizabeth Taylor in 1950.

The short film was hosted by Reese Witherspoon and began with footage from the original film and the sequel. It then shows the year 2020 when Nina (Diane Keaton) initiates the call for Zoom to reunite her family.
