image001Culminating with the Calle Ocho Music Festival headlined by the first Colombian King of Carnaval Miami—five-time GRAMMY® winner Fonseca, who will be performing hit songs from his newest album Agustin, in our landmark, Little Havana —where Miami’s microcosm of culture, music, food and the arts comes together Solo Contigo, nuestra comunidad Latina.

States Jesus Lebeña, President, Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, “Bringing Fonseca as King of Carnaval Miami 2019 is truly an amazing feat for us all. As an organization that prides itself on all things rich in Hispanic culture and giving back, Fonseca embodies our shared values with the Kiwanis for his dedication to the well-being of children, as manifested in his album named after his newborn son, Agustin.  Fonseca brings together a cultural fusion of energy and musical genres to our Carnaval Miami audience.”

Adds Fonseca, “Colombia is my heart and Miami is home, a place where Latinos connect and share their passion for music. Headlining the 2019 Calle Ocho Music Festival is very special for me to share one of my most meaningful and inspiring albums, Agustin. Produced with a diverse group of internationally-talented producers and songwriters from Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela and Colombia, this collaboration truly represents Miami’s uniqueness and I’m excited to be able to celebrate Calle Ocho Music Festival with my worldwide comunidad Latina!

The diversity of Miami doesn’t stop there.  The 2019 Carnaval Miami's poster is presented for the first time by an Ecuadorian artist, Alejandra Estefania—an artist living her dream and sharing her talents and inspirations to benefit youths within the Miami area—who states, “ I’m so honored to be here today to share the art influenced by my experiences and culture. My hope is to inspire our youth for a bigger and brighter tomorrow.”

Host to a series of captivating events that attract an average of a million attendees each year, Carnaval Miami 2019 is best known as host of the country’s largest Latino festival, Calle Ocho Music Festival. 

Coral Gables street festival, Carnaval on The Mile celebrates its 21st anniversary this year. The festival brings art, music, culinary tastings with a cocktail pavilion and children’s entertainment for a weekend long extravaganza. The longtime event consists of two Jazz and Latin Funk music concert stages, a mile of paintings, crafts, photography and prestige jewelry; a cultural extravaganza for all ages.

This year’s new special activations include: The Book Nook where book lovers will enjoy spellbinding storytellers, exciting theatrical presentations, and arts and crafts activities for the young; Dream Vacations, a vacation planning pavilion where attendees are introduced to top-rated and must-see attractions by travel experts during Q&A sessions on the best in culture-exploring and adventure destinations.

Fan favorites returning for a culinary extravaganza is the 4th Annual Cork & Fork, with a variety of food and wine tastings, highlighting the best of South Florida’s Chefs and restaurants; Carnaval on the Mile 2nd  annual Cordials & Candy -- the ultimate night cap poolside experience at the exclusive Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables, where attendees will sip exclusive cordials, aromatic coffees, along with enjoying a fine cigar;  and also  Carnaval Live Gala, the black-tie Latin-inspired gala attended by Miami’s multinational executives, corporations and celebrities in a world-class setting.

 

A new food competition, Cuban Wars, enlists Miami restaurants to compete for the ‘Best Cuban Sandwich’ honors in town by serving up their traditional and innovative recipes featuring Tabasco. And, the World Championship ‘Croqueta’ Eating Contest, Catalina’s El Croquetazo, at Calle Ocho Music Festival, invites professional eaters and amateur “comelones” to compete on how many ‘croquetas’ they can eat in under eight minutes.

  • February 17 Miss Carnaval Miami

Each year, ladies ages 16-26 come together for a pageant competition based on elegance, beauty and talent in hopes of being crowned Miss Carnaval Miami, to serve as the ambassador of the festival. She is also awarded a scholarship and paid entry to the Miss Florida USA pageant.

  • March 2– 3 Carnaval on the Mile
