In commemoration of the Three Wise Kings holiday, Kiwanis of Little Havana impacted 2,000 kids from the Little Havana community and day-care centers
On Saturday, January 9, 2021, the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation commemorated the Three Wise Kings holiday by giving gifts and spreading cheer to over 2,000 kids in the community. They even had the Three Wise Kings make an appearance during the event for pictures and greetings.
The events took place at the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana Headquarters
1400 SW First Street, Miami, FL 33135. Starting from 9 am until 11 am on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
The Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation understands that many children in the local community did not receive gifts or take part in holiday celebrations this year due to the hardships of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We know that due to Covid-19, many families have been in a difficult economic situation and have not been able to brighten the lives of some of their young ones with toys this past Christmas holiday,” said Chairman of the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation, Ross Jiménez.
Even though the foundation itself is struggling due to the pandemic, the organization did not miss the opportunity to bring joy to the children in the community.
“Although this pandemic has also hit our organization financially, we have made a great effort to celebrate Three Kings Day, a beautiful Hispanic tradition that brings families together. It is a special occasion for children of all ages.” Chairman Ross Jiménez.
The Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation is remarkable for the work that they do. The organization is an affiliate of Kiwanis International, a non-profit organization of volunteers that aims to serve the children in the community. The Little Havana chapter was founded in 1975 and is known for its amazing fundraising initiatives, such as Carnaval Miami, Carnaval on the Mile, and Calle Ocho Music Festival. Through their efforts, the Kiwanis Little Havana Foundation impacts thousands of families annually. Some of their other projects include youth development programs, holiday giving, scholarships, youth summer camps, back to school, and more.
