Édgar Barrera emerges as the frontrunner with 13 Latin Grammys nominations, while Shakira and Karol G follow closely
Édgar Barrera dominates with 13 Latin Grammys nominations
Édgar Barrera's remarkable achievements in the music industry have been rightly acknowledged with a whopping 13 nominations at the 24th Latin Grammys. The hit cumbia track "Un X100to," co-written with Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera, has captured the hearts of fans worldwide and positioned Barrera as an outstanding artist.
Apart from the Best Regional Song and Song of the Year nominations, Barrera is also in the running for the newly introduced categories of Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, the former of which he triumphed in back in 2021. His talent and consistent excellence make him a frontrunner at this year's awards.
Shakira and Karol G compete for second place
In a closely contested race for the second-most nominated artists at the Latin Grammys, global sensation Shakira and reggaeton icon Karol G share the spotlight with seven nominations apiece. In collaboration with Argentine producer Bizarrap, Shakira's techno-pop hit earned nominations in the Song of the Year and Record of the Year categories.
Meanwhile, Karol G, alongside Kevyn "Keityn" Mauricio Cruz Moreno, her songwriter, boasts seven nominations, riding high on the success of her chart-topping album, "Mañana Será Bonito." This recognition solidifies their positions as two of the most influential figures in Latin music today.
But that’s not all. Conexión Divina, an all-woman sierreño trio, has also earned a nomination for the best new artist category. This trio made their incredible debut at Coachella this year. Other nominees include Cuban chanteuse Paola Guanche, vallenato artist Ana Del Castillo, and Puerto Rican pop singer Gale. Visit LatinGrammy.com for the full credits and nominations list.
