Leaders unite to tackle climate change through energy innovation, AI, and waste reduction
On August 15, 2025, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) brought together business, community, and environmental leaders for its 7th Annual Sustainability Conference & Green Visionary Awards Luncheon at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Presented by Carnival, this year’s theme, “Confronting Global Climate Change for a Better World: Shaping a Resilient Tomorrow with Energy, AI, and Waste Reduction” highlighted the urgent need for collaborative solutions to protect our planet.

Distinguished panel of experts
The SFLHCC conference featured a dynamic panel moderated by Jorge Hernandez, News Anchor for Televisa and Univision Miami. Panelists included:
- Peter Yeo, Senior VP of the United Nations Foundation & President of the Better World Campaign
- Katherine Cue Fuente, Senior Manager of Government Affairs, Southeastern PepsiCo
- Ron Magill, Communications Director at Zoo Miami & Ron Magill Conservation Endowment
- Jovianna Gonzalez, Founder & CEO of Digital Forensics Now
- Mike Fernandez, Vice President of Post Collections, Waste Pro
- Al Collazo, Hispanic Communications Director at WPP – Ford Hispanic Communications
Together, they explored the intersection of technology, energy efficiency, and waste management as key strategies for building resilience against climate change.
SFLHCC honoring Green Visionaries
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Green Visionary Awards, which recognized outstanding organizations and individuals for their environmental stewardship. This year’s honorees included:

In addition, the SFLHCC Foundation presented a $7,500 check to the Ron Magill Conservation Endowment in support of wildlife preservation.
