Calle Ocho-born rapper and songwriter Pitbull, also known as Mr. Worldwide, released a lyric video to his new song “I Believe That We Will Win (World Anthem)” on April 13.
In the song, Pitbull rallies listeners to “repeat after me,” chanting the song title while standing on the rooftop of SLAM Miami, a public charter. SLAM, also known as Sports Leadership and Management, is a philanthropic investment Pitbull made for the benefit of Latin-American communities.
Having grown up in Little Havana, Pitbull understands the struggles Latin-American communities face in their daily lives. He constantly gives back to these communities through programs and investments.
Pitbull began his career as a Reggaeton and Latino Hip-Hop artist, earning his debut with his single, “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).” This song secured the second spot on Hot 100.
In 2011, Pitbull rebranded himself as a pop rapper with the launch of his English album “Planet Pit.” This album gave him his first Hot 100 chart topper, “Give Me Everything.”
Now, Pitbull is a top-selling artist who has sold more than 100 million records and has endorsed companies such as Kodac, Walmart, and Dr. Pepper.
His other activities include giving back to his community, which he did with his new song. The lyric video is available for access on his YouTube channel. It begins, “You know what spreads faster than any virus/ is fear,” a clear reference to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The next line is, “It’s not how you fall/ It’s how you get back up/ And what don’t kill us makes us stronger.” During this time, an uplifting message like this is important to keep in mind.
Pitbull aimed to spread positivity with his new video, which he did by showing the Miami skyline. Pitbull also encouraged his Instagram followers to help him show the power of people coming together by singing, “to fight for one cause called life.”
Mr. Worldwide’s newest project can be found here. He encourages everyone to stay safe and positive during these tough times.
