Padel for a purpose: Miami sports charity event to benefit brain cancer research

Fast-paced padel tournament to raise funds for glioblastoma research

Miami is set to host one of the most exciting charity events of the year on January 18, 2025, at Reserve Padel Miami. The Glioblastoma Research Organization (GBMRO) is organizing the second annual Padel for Brain Cancer Miami, a unique fundraising event centered around the fast-paced sport of padel. This competitive tournament will not only showcase intense athleticism but also raise vital funds for glioblastoma research.

Glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, affects thousands of people worldwide. GBMRO, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting groundbreaking research for a cure, is hoping to bring awareness and rally community support through this event. The tournament will feature 30 teams, with 40 players in the men's division and 20 players in the women's division, all competing for the top prize in a bracket-style competition.

Spectators will have the chance to witness high-energy matches while enjoying various on-site activations, food, and drinks throughout the event. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast or simply someone looking to support a good cause, Padel for Brain Cancer Miami offers something for everyone.

Making a real impact on brain cancer research

Padel for Brain Cancer is more than just a sporting event—it’s an opportunity to contribute to the fight against glioblastoma. Last year, GBMRO hosted its inaugural fundraiser, followed by a similar event in New York, raising a combined $61,000 for glioblastoma research. This year’s event is poised to make an even greater impact, with every ticket purchased directly supporting GBMRO’s mission to fund cutting-edge research projects aimed at finding a cure.

Tickets for the event are available starting at $75 for spectators and $400 for a team ticket (two players). In addition to the excitement of the tournament, ticket holders can look forward to a winner’s prize box that includes a TWOTWO padel racket, wellness services, and self-care items—perfect for those looking to enhance their sporting experience or indulge in relaxation after a competitive match.

Amber Barbach, founder of GBMRO, expressed her excitement for the return of the event, stating, “We are thrilled to bring back this high-energy fundraising event to Miami. It’s not just about having fun; it’s about making a real impact in the fight against glioblastoma.”

Powerful community support

Event sponsors include well-known brands such as Drink Spade, Earos, Myna Snacks, Koia Shakes, 8Greens, TruBar, Aire Wellness, Sopra Miami, and Forte dei Marmi, all showing their commitment to supporting this meaningful cause. With the backing of the Miami community, GBMRO is poised to make significant strides in advancing glioblastoma research and raising awareness about this devastating disease.

In addition to the thrilling competition and fundraising efforts, Padel for Brain Cancer Miami also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community involvement in medical research. The event provides an opportunity for participants and attendees to come together, not only to enjoy the sport of padel but also to honor those affected by glioblastoma. The Glioblastoma Research Organization continues to be a beacon of hope for families and individuals impacted by this aggressive disease, and the funds raised will directly contribute to ongoing research projects aimed at finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
