Dariel Fernandez brings government innovation to local grocery stores, allowing residents to renew vehicle registrations while they shop
Bringing government services where people already are
In a pioneering move aimed at streamlining public services, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez has officially introduced self-service kiosks for vehicle registration renewals at select Publix Super Markets across the county. These kiosks enable residents to renew their vehicle registrations and instantly print decal tags—right next to the produce aisle or bakery.
“This is what it means to bring government closer to the people,” Fernandez said during the July 11 launch event in Doral. “By placing self-service kiosks in familiar locations like Publix, we’re cutting bureaucracy, saving time, and modernizing the way residents should access essential government services.”
The event, held at the Publix located at 7550 NW 104th Ave., welcomed local media and community members. Attendees witnessed a live demonstration of the kiosk’s capabilities—swift, user-friendly, and highly efficient.

Kiosks already in high demand across the county
Since the initial rollout began in April, five kiosks have been installed in areas spanning Miami, Homestead, Doral, and Miami Beach. Thousands of residents have already taken advantage of the new system, finding the process both intuitive and refreshingly fast. These machines represent a significant upgrade to traditional renewal methods that often required long lines or wait times.
Designed for user convenience, the kiosks are available during regular Publix hours, including evenings and weekends—making them a practical option for working families and busy individuals.
