Miami is gearing up for a unique event that combines fun, philanthropy, and a splash of adventure
On Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, the Miami Beach Cupid Splash will take place at Collins Park Beach, inviting participants to take a refreshing plunge into the 68-degree waters. The “Pledge and Plunge” fundraiser aims to support the recovery and environmental education of Biscayne Bay.
Inspired by Boston’s Cupid Splash, which has raised thousands to restore Boston Harbor, Miami is introducing its own version to benefit Biscayne Bay.
Bruce Berman, the event organizer, highlighted the success of Boston’s event and noted that it raised $50,000 in pledges and an additional $100,000 in sponsorships and philanthropic support. He hopes to replicate this success in Miami.
Supporting Biscayne Bay
Biscayne Bay is a vital part of Miami’s ecosystem and has faced challenges due to pollution, urban development, and climate change. The Cupid Splash event aims to address these issues by raising funds for the Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, managed by The Miami Foundation.
The funds will support initiatives such as youth fishing programs, conservation education, and the Zero Drownings Miami-Dade Initiative.
Participants are encouraged to wear Valentine’s Day-themed costumes, with prizes awarded for the best-dressed splashers and top fundraisers. Prizes include exciting vacations, staycations, gift cards, and more.
The event is sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Discover Boating - Miami International Boat Show, and the Miami Beach Convention Center, highlighting community partnerships with Miami-Dade County, Collins Park Neighborhood Association, and the City of Miami Beach.

Miami-Dade County officials have stressed the importance of community involvement in the restoration of Biscayne Bay. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava stated, “Our bay needs our love,” emphasizing the collective responsibility in environmental conservation.
Lorena Parra, Miami-Dade County Chief Bay & Water Resources Officer, added, “It’s on all of us to give them the solutions, the actions, the ways that they can support us.”
