The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) conducted its annual luncheon with a focus on environmental preservation. The event and luncheon were held at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables in mid-August, where Liliam M. Lopez received the Kentucky Colonel title.

About Liliam M. Lopez
Liliam M. Lopez is the President and CEO of both the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which she founded in 1994.
The SHFLCCis acknowledged as one of the most influential and strongest non-profit organizations in the United States as a result of her efforts. It was founded to foster corporate leadership, facilitate economic development, and act as a legislative voice for the South Florida Hispanic business community.
The chamber has consistently been acknowledged as one of the most important organizations in the US for Hispanic-owned businesses. Currently, the organization has about 1,450 members and offers approximately 25 events per year.
What was the luncheon about?
The annual luncheon organized by SFLHCC was focused on environmental protection. Liliam M. Lopez received the title, presented by the Governor of the State of Kentucky during the ceremony, becoming a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of her outstanding community service for more than twenty-five years.
The Kentucky Colonel title is the highest honor awarded by the State of Kentucky and among the most renowned honorary colonelcies granted by American governors.
During the event, a panel discussion was hosted by renowned channel 10 journalist Louis Aguirre. Additionally, yearly prizes were given to businesses that support environmental protection.
Liliam recently tweeted on August 22, “Grateful to receive the highest honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky - a Kentucky Colonel. Thank you, Jose Felix Diaz and Alejandro Mendieta and the Honorable Governor of the great state that we shall visit in 2023Andy Beshear.”
