From toll savings and phishing scam warnings to procurement opportunities, GMX prioritizes Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties
Save 50% on Tolls with SunPass
The Greater Miami Expressway Agency (GMX) is reminding commuters about the significant savings available on tolls when using a SunPass transponder. Drivers who switch to SunPass can save up to 50% compared to TOLL-BY-PLATE on all GMX expressways.
“We encourage residents to take advantage of SunPass for cost-efficient and hassle-free travel,” said Torey Alston, GMX Executive Director/CEO. With Miami’s bustling highways, the savings can quickly add up for frequent commuters.

Stay Alert: Phishing Scam Warnings
GMX is also warning the community about recent phishing scams targeting SunPass users. These fraudulent messages falsely claim unpaid toll invoices and urge recipients to settle them immediately through suspicious links.
GMX and SunPass emphasize that they do not send payment requests via text messages. “Think before you click, and always verify through official channels,” Alston advised.
To avoid falling victim to these scams:
- Ignore Suspicious Messages: Do not click on links in unexpected texts.
- Don’t Reply: Avoid responding, even if asked to “STOP” future messages.
- Verify Information: Visit official resources like www.sunpass.com for accurate account details.
Procurement outreach

“Partnering with local businesses is a key part of our commitment to community development,” said Alston. “We’re excited to collaborate with innovative partners who share our vision for improving transportation in South Florida.”
GMX’s strong financial standing
In addition to its community outreach, the agency continues to demonstrate fiscal responsibility and stability. The agency recently received its strongest independent audit results since 2018. The audit, conducted by MSL Certified Public Accountants, highlighted:
- Increased Revenues and Assets: A sign of the agency's growth and sound management.
- Reduced Liabilities: Strengthening the agency’s financial foundation.
- Improved Debt Service Coverage: Ensuring long-term sustainability for infrastructure projects.
“These results affirm our commitment to fiscal stewardship,” said Alston. “They reflect the hard work of our professionals and the leadership of our governing board.”
From saving residents money on tolls to ensuring fiscal transparency and offering exciting business opportunities, the Greater Miami Expressway Agency is committed to supporting the Miami-Dade and Monroe County communities.
