The Chaplain Tower South Surfside Condo Collapse was at around 1:30 a.m on Thursday June 24, 2021. As of today June 25th around 120 people have been found, but 159 are still unaccounted for.
The quick responses from Miami Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Governor Ron DeSantis, and Senator Marco Rubio created an effective task force that has been working around the clock to get as many people to safety as possible. Both have been at the scene doing their best to give comfort to all those affected by the Surfside Condo collapse and support their community.

Teams of Fire rescue and other personnel have been at work since the Surfside Condo collapse happened under risk conditions. The cause of the collapse has not been established, and they are operating with light machinery to navigate the scene.
Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett assured, “We will not stop. You can count on us to continue this search until we find every person who's alive in that rubble."
As of now, four people have been reported dead, but there is still hope that many will be found alive as the efforts continue during the day.
President Joe Biden made the declaration of emergency authorizing funding and other disaster relief to Surfside. In addition, various Hotels opened their doors to house residents impacted. Food, medicine, and other supplies were being collected for the families.
Among those unaccounted for was the relatives of the first lady of Paraguay. The sister of the first Lady, Sofia Lopez Moreira Bó, the sister's husband, Luis Pettengill, their three children and their nanny, Lady Luna Villalba. Other Paraguayans were also among those unaccounted for. Additionally, over 20 Jewish people remain missing after the Surfside Condo collapse.
Florida will continue to be United in the efforts and hopefully, more people will be from the Surfside Condo collapse rescued today. Investigations are underway to find the reason for the collapse and prevent this horrific event from ever happening in the future. Immense gratitude goes out to our first responders, Mayor Levine Cava, Governor DeSantis, Senator Marco Rubio for all they have done and will continue to do.
