After a long waiting period, it is exciting to announce that under the direction of Eriberto Jimenez the annual Grand Classical Gala LIVE is scheduled to take place at the Fillmore Miami Beach on Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 pm. The performance will also be streamed virtually for all those who are more comfortable attending through that platform. The show will feature pieces from Russian impresario, Sergei Diaghilev’s most popular Classical Ballets from the 1900s, “Ballet Russe”. The pieces will be performed by Cuban Principal Dancers, CCBM Soloists, and Corps de Ballet. The Fillmore gala is a project that was done in collaboration with St. Lucie Ballet, which provided beautiful costumes and effects.
The Gala at the Fillmore will become the first on-stage live ballet presentation in Miami this 2021. Memorable pieces that you will get to experience include:
- “La Bayadere”- A story of mystery, love, fate, vengeance, and justice set in the Royal India of the past. First presented at the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1877 and one you won’t want to miss!
- “Le Carnival” Choreographed by Michel Fokine, the ballet displays gallant males, flirtatious females, and lovers who playfully accept and reject each other.
- “Vivendiere” First premiered in 1844 in London. This ballet is set in a village in Hungary, where lovers Kathi and Hans have to overcome the jealousy of two others that want Kathi!
- “Spectre de la Rose" (The Spirit of the Rose) this short ballet is about a young girl who dreams of dancing and earning a rose from her first ball. Choreographed by Russian Michel Fokine, it premiered in Monte Carlo in 1911, with Ballet Russes.
