Experience the magic of the season with fare-free rides on Miami-Dade Transit's Better Bus Network until Dec. 31!
In a holiday twist for commuters, Miami-Dade Transit is gifting riders fare-free journeys on all modes, including Metrobus, Metrorail, STS, and the newly branded MetroConnect, from Nov. 13 through Dec. 31. This initiative aligns with the launch of the Better Bus Network, a groundbreaking transformation in the history of the County’s bus services.
Better Bus Network transforming Miami-Dade transit for a connected future
The Better Bus Network is re-imagining public transportation in Miami-Dade County from the perspective of its users. The network offers faster connections (45 minutes or less) to key businesses, educational establishments, and healthcare providers due to its improved efficiency, frequency, and dependability. The fare-free time is meant to help current riders make the switch more easily and to attract new customers to the upgraded system.
Now is the time to try our buses and trains out," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. The goal of the project is to provide locals with more than just improved public transportation; it's to give them a state-of-the-art bus system that will lead to more accessibility and a higher standard of living overall. If you use the bus every day or this is your first time, Mayor Cava wants you to make the most of the fare-free period over the holidays.
Miami-Dade County's public transportation has seen substantial enhancements thanks to the Better Bus Network. It's a baby step toward making Miami-Dade County better wired, greener, and more prepared for the future.
Last mile, first choice: Metroconnect on the house for seamless journeys
The fare-free offer is not limited to the regular Metrobus and Metrorail services; it also includes the recently rebranded on-demand shared transport service MetroConnect, which helps passengers make final-mile connections in new service areas. Download the MetroConnect app or dial (786) 321-5842 to join up for this service and start riding now.
Many U.S. towns have found that offering free fares throughout the network's inauguration helps users make the switch to public transportation and attracts new riders. During the fare-free time and the Christmas season, public safety will be bolstered across the system to ensure the safety and security of all riders.
With new trains, cars, and several innovations currently in operation, Miami-Dade Transit, led by Mayor Levine Cava and the Board of County Commissioners, is committed to providing a seamless customer experience as the new network rolls out.
