Brickell Gateway's updated site plans are focused on increasing pedestrian activity
United States-based real estate developer Gazit Horizons (Gazit), headquartered in New York, has applied for a final Administrative Site Plan Review (ASPR) for the Brickell Gateway project in Miami. 90 Southwest 8th Street in Brickell will soon be home to a 61-story residential and commercial skyscraper designed with pedestrians in mind.
The reason behind the Brickell Gateway giant project
Previously, the property's usage did not encourage pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk near the Underline. Its structure didn't fit in with the County's Comprehensive Development Master Plan's (CDMP) vision which was to make the urban core the most effective structure for the people of the city.
This skyscraper in the works will feature large pedestrian promenades so people can walk through the streets of Miami safely. It also provides a stunning view that appreciates architectural artistry and engineering efficiency.
About the pedestrian-focused skyscraper
The development's blueprints were submitted to Miami-Dade County on June 3, 2022. Plans propose for a tower to rise about 747 feet high with 504 apartments, 18,287 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, and 348 spaces for enclosed parking. The total floor area will be 933,209.
The building is a collaboration between Corwil Architects of Coral Gables, the landscape architects at Witkin Hults + Partners, and civil engineers Kimley-Horn.
