It’s not every day that you get to hear of a local business making headlines as one of 50 best bars in the world, but Cafe La Trova has made Miamians proud this year.
Located in our very own Calle Ocho, the bar is a merger between a few creative geniuses, namely James Beard, Michelle Bernstein, Julio Cabrera, and David Martinez. The power team has the vision and wit from multiple powerhouses, including a chef, cantinero certified bartender, and restaurateur, making it a force to be reckoned with.
The team’s success speaks for itself with the way Cafe La Trove jumped from number 70 in 2020 to 28 in 2021 of the 50 Best Bars in the World, appreciated and celebrated for their signature cantinero style.
Cafe La Trova stands out in its approach to bartending, paying homage to the world-famous bars of Cuba. Everything from the interiors and decor to their bartending style and menu are unique, and all this is precisely what helps them stand out as one of the 50 Best Bars in the World.
Additionally, the bar doesn’t just maintain but continually improves its services. From expanding their menu to providing customers with an authentic Cubano experience, they ensure that nobody walks away without experiencing Cafe La Trova in its full glory.
The rank 50 Best Bars in the World were announced in London in early December with the team, including Cabrera and his family, Bernstein, and Martinez flying out to accept the honor.
There’s no denying that this is an incredible opportunity for the team that has worked so hard and so consistently to create this restaurant and bar, which has received this ranking based on peer reviews. That means that over 600 experts in the food and beverage industry, who have traveled across the globe the best bars, have ranked Cafe La Trova as one of their favorites.
Voters are anonymous, and bars of all kinds are eligible--although they cannot enter the ballot themselves. Deloitte facilitated the voting and counting process, streamlining it for more efficiency, and despite the flexibility with voting rules due to the pandemic, Cafe La Trova smashed it.
It’s incredible to see local businesses thriving and sharing the gift of Cuban culture with the rest of the world. The team at Calle Ocho News is thrilled to hear about this incredible feat because it’s definitely a win for the entire Cuban-American community--after all, there is something remarkable about Cuban cuisine, drinks, and of course, the cantinero bartending method itself.
We extend our congratulations to the entire team over at Cafe La Trova and hope to see them soar even higher next year!
