Free holiday event features interactive activities, Santa, and food trucks on December 14
Tri-Rail is bringing back its beloved "Winter Wonderland" event, providing South Florida families with a festive and fun-filled day at the Miami Airport Station. The annual event, presented by Herzog, will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and offers a wide range of activities perfect for kids and families. Best of all, it’s free to attend, making it a must-visit holiday tradition for residents.
A festive day for all ages
Tri-Rail’s “Winter Wonderland” is set to transform the Miami Airport Station into a magical holiday destination. Families can enjoy a variety of activities designed to engage and entertain children of all ages. The event will feature interactive games, cookie decorating, face painting, bounce houses, a balloon station, and a coloring station. Holiday characters will be on hand to greet guests, and attendees can capture the moment with photo opportunities alongside Tri-Rail’s beloved mascot, Conductor George Green.
One of the highlights of the event is the special appearance by Santa Claus, who will be available for photos and holiday cheer. Santa’s presence will be complemented by live holiday music performed by the South Florida Chamber Ensemble, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
Family-friendly activities and entertainment
Beyond the interactive stations and entertainment, "Winter Wonderland" will feature live performances, including the Mouse-tacular Holiday Celebration show, where families can enjoy a cheerful and festive performance. Eventgoers will also find plenty of engaging activities hosted by local organizations, museums, and attractions.
The History Miami Museum, Museum of Discovery and Science, Florida Panthers, Gold Coast Railroad Museum, City of Miami Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum, City of Miami, and the Florida Department of Transportation will all be present, offering unique educational experiences and hands-on activities for kids and adults alike.
For food lovers, the event will include a variety of food trucks where visitors can indulge in delicious meals and treats. Participating food trucks include BurgerFi, I Love Panzerotti, and Emmy Beth’s Ice Cream, ensuring that everyone finds something to enjoy during their time at the event.
Tri-Rail encourages attendees to ride the train to the event, offering an affordable and convenient way to travel. The first 100 people who visit the Tri-Rail booth at the event will receive a special gift. Tri-Rail’s weekend fare is just $5 for unlimited rides throughout the day, or $2.50 for those with a registered discount EASY Card. Children under 5 years old can ride for free, making this an affordable outing for families.
